Warbirds Over Pueblo

The logo for the Warbirds Over Pueblo carries a special significance you may not know about. In 1944 Pueblo was a major training base for B-24 squadrons leaving for the European and Pacific theaters of action. Our field is named in honor of one of those crews commanded by Col. Brad Dolliver. His crew trained here and left for England in 1944. While in Pueblo, he met and fell in love with a local girl. On the day he left for England he flew his B-24, “What’s Cookin Doc” over the golden dome of the County Court House down Pueblo’s main street, where his future wife worked, to say goodbye. This is symbolized in the logo of our event. Capt. Dolliver moved back to Pueblo when he retired and attended this event shortly before his death in 2005.
